The 1981 155lb. state champion from Gilmer High School, Sam Snider, now the head wrestling coach at his alma mater; won his 300th career win. The feat was accomplished in front of a raucous home crowd that greatly appreciative of their home town hero. The West Hall Spartans faced the juggernaut that is the Bobcats wrestling team, and despite battling with valor like King Leonidas, fell 62-14.The Bobcats were hosts to the Fannin County Rebels, the Sonoraville Phoenix, and the aforementioned Spartans. The Bobcats completed yet another sweep of the competition in a duals meet. The Bobcats may want to see about broom endorsements.

The big 300th win occurred during the Bobcats first match. The Spartans were simply no match for their extremely well coached counterparts. The Spartans were held to zero team points until the 11th match of the dual, when they scored a minor win with a last second take down and back points, which made the score 59-3.
There are 13 matches per dual, one for each weight class. Points are awarded as follows: 6-pin; 5-technical pin (15 point lead in match points); 4-major win (win by more than 8 points); and 3-minor.

The Fannin County Rebels faired no better. Losing 61-12, the Rebels were held scoreless until the 11th match. The Bobcats lead was 55-0 before back to back wins by pin gave the Rebels their sole points of the dual.

The best was apparently saved for last of the night. The Sonoraville Phoenix, who finished second in the state last year in AA, gave the Bobcats their most competition. The Phoenix was the first team to actually have a lead on the Bobcats, however short lived, when 189 Ian Smith was pinned in the first match of the dual, giving the Phoenix a 6-0 lead.

James Longino returned the favor to Sonoraville and tied the dual at 6-6. Heavyweight Austin Sprayberry, lost a major win, in a match which featured two svelte heavyweights, giving the Phoenix back the lead at 10-6. Cameron Perry, wrestling 103, began a five match pin streak that gave the Bobcats a 36-10 advantage.
