Mrs. Lois Johnson of Bent Tree, Jasper, GA passed away January 27, 2011 in her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born Lois Carol Anderson on September 2, 1929 to Henry and Laura (Stokke) Anderson in their home in Shabonna, IL. She grew up in Leland, IL, the youngest of seven children. On June 30, 1951, she married Bruce H. Johnson of DeKalb, IL. They resided in the DeKalb and Sycamore area for nearly 30 years, then moved south and settled in Cumming, and finally settled in Bent Tree. She was an active member of many groups and helped with the family business, B.H. Johnson Stairbuilders of Alpharetta. Upon retirement, she and Bruce enjoyed RV traveling and visiting with their family and friends.

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years Bruce H. Johnson, her brothers, Irvin, Merrill, Ralph and Raymond, two nephews, Doug Means and Steven Patterson, and a grand-daughter, Laura Torrence.

She is survived by Children & in-laws: Carol & David Anderson, Springfield, MO, Brian & Carol Johnson, Johns Creek, GA, Barry & Robin Johnson, Mooresville, NC, Brent Johnson, Lawrenceville, GA, Laura Collins, Jasper, GA; She was blessed with 13 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren all of whom she was extremely proud. Sisters & brother-in-law: Harriet & Glenn Bower, Ellijay, Gladdys Rhodes, Somonauk, IL; Many extended family members also survive.

She was a very creative person and an avid quilter. She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church of Ellijay, the First Mountain City Quilters, Red Hat ladies of Jasper, and a social group in Brent Tree.

Memorial services will be held Friday February 4, 2011 at 11am from the Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay, GA with Reverend David Smedley officiating. The family will greet visitors at 10am until the service hour at 11am on Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate remembrances given to Georgia Mountains Hospice, 70 Caring Way, Jasper, GA 30143. Their support and compassion during her illness was immensely appreciated by her family.
