Commissioner’s Report – JC Explains Convenience Centers

News

This is the week we started the $1.00 per bag charge for household garbage, we know there will be problems so we plead for your understanding till these can be worked out. The size bag you will need to use will be a 32-33 gallon size. If you would prefer to use smaller, kitchen size bags, we will have a 32 gallon trash can at each convenient site and you can place the smaller bags in the can until it is full and that will be one bag.

There will be no charge for properly separated recyclables. We are at this time using a single stream type recycling system, so the recyclables may all be placed together. These will include clean cardboard, newspapers, clean paper with no wax coating, tin and aluminum cans or any item with a recyclable label on it, we can accept no glass at this time, and we hope this will change in the future. The recycle program will cut the cost of our garbage if it is properly separated. If we were to lose this option it means we would have to pay for all these items so please do not place garbage in recycle bins.

We will accept no checks and we have not been able to arrange for credit or debit card charges at this time so this will be a cash transaction. Please have correct change for your bag count; there will be no change at the centers.

We have now completed our State Aid paving on Whitestone and Big Creek Roads. The process for obtaining the State Aid for this year is now almost complete and the projects it will assist with will be announced very soon.
