Gilmer Chamber of Commerce says Welcome, Citizens South shows Appreciation

Business

The Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon was held Thursday, May 12th at the Gilmer County Civic Center. The luncheon was sponsored by Citizens South Bank. Citizens South Bank, new to Gilmer County, was founded in 1904 and is headquartered in Gastonia, NC. Paige Green, Chamber of Commerce President, apologized during the luncheon for the poor acoustics and the echo in our Civic Center. Paige good humouredly suggested she was going to speak with the Commissioners concerning the sound system; when she was pleasantly interrupted by Kim Price, CEO of Citizens South.

Mr. Price asked Paige how much it would cost to improve the acoustics and received her reply of approximately $5,000. Kim Price then generously announced that Citizens South would provide $2,500 if the Commissioners would match.

Kent Sanford, a familiar face in Gilmer County, addressed the crowd and introduced some of his co-workers from Citizens South Bank.

FYN advised the Commissioners later that day of the offer by Citizens South and plans will move forward to place sound absorption panels in the Civic Center.

So on behalf of Gilmer County let us all “echo” a big thank you to Paige Green and Citizens South Bank.
