Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office and DTF Agents make marijuana arrests

Sheriff Stacy Nicholson releases the following information today regarding marijuana arrest.

Deputies, Drug Task Force agents, and officers with the Governor’s Drug Task Force located marijuana plants on Thursday, September 1, 2011 in the Old Pleasant Valley Drive area of Gilmer County.
The Governor’s DTF was conducting a “flyover” operation in Gilmer County when they spotted suspected marijuana growing off of Old Pleasant Valley Drive. A subsequent investigation by Sheriff’s Deputies and agents of the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force (ZMMPDTF) led to the seizure of approximately 54 marijuana plants and the arrests of Jerry Fendley, Patricia Wayman, and Robert Rollins, all of Ellijay addresses.

Sheriff Nicholson stated,

“Marijuana crops in Gilmer County are not as prevalent now as they once were. These plants were very well taken care of as evident by their size as you can see in the pictures.”

In a separate incident, on August 25, 2011, Sheriff’s Deputies and agents of the ZMMPDTF seized approximately 10 plants in the Ga Highway 282 area of Gilmer County. At press release time, no arrests have been made; however, Sheriff Nicholson states that

“arrests are expected shortly in this investigation.”
