Video: BOE Approves Tentative Budget for FY13, Shows Million Dollar Deficit

In a called meeting on Tuesday, July 24th, the Gilmer County Board of Education presented and approved its tentative budget for FY13. According to Financial Officer Julie Swindle, the tentative budget shows a deficit of approximately $1.1 million. She confirmed that the district would transfer the money out of the fund balance to make up the difference. Later in the meeting, the board also approved the tentative millage rate for FY13. The board approved a millage rate of 17.75, unchanged from last year, with a 19.34 rollback rate.

The board also approved the CTAE budget plan for FY13, which deals with grants.
