MVA Involved Empty School Bus and Another Vehicle

Update from the Georgia State Patrol:
Initial indication is that a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling west on SR 52 and crossed the centerline and struck the school bus that was traveling east on SR 52 head on. Steven Shaw, age 56, from Big Canoe was driving the pickup truck. He was airlifted to Erlanger. The school bus was being driven by Tina Mulkey, age 43, from Jasper. She was airlifted to Kennestone. Charges are pending. FYN will update the story once new information becomes available.

Info from this morning: Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office: THE CURRENTLY REPORTED MVA EARLIER THIS MORNING ON HWY. 52 EAST AT EASTSIDE GRILL INVOLVED 2 VEHICLES, ONE OF WHICH IS A GILMER COUNTY SCHOOL BUS – THERE WERE NO CHILDREN ON THE SCHOOL BUS! BOTH DRIVERS WERE INJURED, ONE WAS LIFE FLIGHTED AND THE OTHER WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL.
