Head coach, Donna Parks, was highly impressed with her team’s performance against the number one seeded Catamounts.

“This Match was closer than it appears in the scores. All Matches start at the same time, and in the beginning our girls started out leading most of these matches. It was beginning to look like we might possibly upset the 1st Seed team. Even the Dalton (and other team) Coaches were gathering to watch and were saying the same thing. It was very exciting to watch, all the way to the end. I was so very proud at how our girls persevered through their matches with determination and confidence (even though we were not expected to win). Anna’s match started out with her leading 5-0 in the first set but it just seemed like her opponent turned it on all-of-a-sudden after that and although Anna tried to stop her, in the end she just got the best of her. Most of Hannah Colwell’s sets went to deuce and she hung right with the Cass player each time. Ally Davis seemed so poised and confident playing her opponent that she came away with a decisive win in the end. Our 1st Doubles team of Rachel & Mattie also began their match forcefully. The two teams stayed neck-in-neck throughout the first set but Cass pulled ahead at the end. In the 2nd set the scores are misleading, again because Rachel & Mattie went to duece throughout that set. Our 2nd Doubles (Jenna & Hannah T) came out strong and won their 1st set against Cass (enforcing everyone’s idea that maybe we could upset them). After falling to Cass in the 2nd set, they came out determined to win. As it happened, one of our other matches went down before this Doubles match could be decided, but Jenna and Hannah certainly looked as if they were definitely on the way to a win as the last set in the match was at 4-4 and our girls seemed to be on a roll. This was also the only match to go to 3 sets all day.”

Bobcats’ Scores Vs SEW

1st Singles-Isaac Hensley vs Alesandro Luna 6-7 (tie break 5-7) very
close! This match was called because the Team Match had already been
won
2nd Singles-Will Luke vs Alexis Bellera 6-2, 6-4
3rd Singles-Riley Hice vs Jorge Ruedas 6-1, 6-1
1st Doubles-Ross Henderson/Mel Mosley vs Trey Weaver/Marcelo Galaviz 6-2, 6-1
2nd – Levi Stolz/Dusty Ray vs Craig Dunnell/Selso Aguilar 6-1 (this
match was also called because the Team Match had already been won)

Parks expounded on her team’s match versus SEW and overall season performance.

“Isaac was staying right with his opponent and I believe could have worn him down before the match was called. Isaac is a very consistent, hit-it-back-no-matter-what player and is very patient when winning his points. Will Luke & Riley Hice both won their matches with SEW here as well, a feat we didn’t pull of at 2nd & 3rd Singles when we played SEW earlier in the season. This is the first time any of the seniors can remember winning a match at the Region Tournament so they were all very excited. I don’t have the results from years past, but I think ending the season (including Region Tournament) with a Record of 10-6 is something that hasn’t been done in a little while, and I am very proud of how all these players practiced and worked hard to earn that.”
