DDA Sets Up Alternate Funding

News

The Downtown Development Authority has met to discuss the next steps after the 4th of July.

Even though many of you spent your 4th on the Boardwalk, stopping by Bunk’s on the Boardwalk and attending festivities amid the annual Beach Party, the project has still yet to be closed out.

The DDA has reported almost $8,000 needed to complete the funding for paint, trash cans, tables, benches, lighting, and other needs. The Authority has turned to several different avenues to fund this. Continuing to accept donations and pulling in vendor fees from the festival, they have also begun a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo here.

As part of this funding they are offering up tags that will be placed in planks on the boardwalk or, with a higher donation, on the vertical posts. These tags do not have to contain the donor’s name, but can contain the name of anyone they would like to remember, a family name, or even a business. These are acquired through the funding site or directly via the Authority members.

Other Events and Festivals are also lined up with the DDA to support Ellijay, including the next event Come Play Golf in Ellijay. Spend the day on the Whitepath Golf Course on Friday, September 18th as you compete for prizes and help to fund the Downtown Development Authority. They have also set up a website for the event at Come Play Golf in Ellijay.

How about replacing the awnings downtown with new ones. They would perk up the look of downtown!
