Seamless Summer Breaks 20,000

Community

A month has finished under the operation of the Seamless Summer Program.

Under the guidance of Linda Waters, Director of School Nutrition for Gilmer County Schools, the program has served 11,932 lunches and 10,176 breakfasts in that time. Over 20,000 meals in 30 days, made possible thanks to volunteers from all over Gilmer County from churches, businesses, and individuals.

FYN recently visited another site of service at the Mulberry Lane Apartments. The volunteer in charge, Donna Johnson, not only serves but has partnered with the kids at her site. She states that she has the local kids help to set up and prepare the site as well as maintain cleanliness and practice manners to help them build commercial skills and responsibilities to aid them throughout there lives.

She has helped the children to plant and maintain a local garden and has partnered with volunteers from the local Chic-fil-A to aid in site maintenance. Marketing Director Michelle Bentley comes by weekly with a couple of volunteers from her restaurant to aid the community in this project.
