Clear Creek Track Takes Third, Fourth at Warrior Invitational

The Clear Creek Middle School track team squeezed in one final meet before heading to state, traveling to Gordon Central last Saturday for the 2016 Warrior Invitational.

The Bobcats wound up with a third place (out of five teams) finish, by accumulating 55 team points. The Lady Cats finished fourth, with 36 teams points.

C.J. Streicher won the 100-meter dash event (and broke the CCMS record in the event in the process), posting a finish-line time of 12 and three-hundredths of a second (12.03). He also took second in the triple jump, recording a leap of 35 feet, 10 inches (35′ 10″).

Connor Mohon won the 800-meter run, completing the event with a time of two minutes, 26 and eight-hundredths of a second (2:26.08). Nate Mooney finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 50.31.

Jakob Dobbs placed second in the 800-meter race, finishing with a time of 2:28.79. He also took second in the 1,600-meter run, recording a time of 5:18.45.

The Bobcats won the 4×400 relay event as well, as the pairing of Dobbs, Mohon, Mooney and Streicher completing the event with a time of 4:12.26.

Joshua Barker took third place in the 1,600-meter event, posting a time of 5:23.30. Darryl Carpenter placed third in the triple jump, recording a length of 26′ 7″.

Joseph Goodwin took fourth place in the discus throw, recording a toss of 78′ 10″, while Nathan Jones claimed fourth place in the 110-meter hurdles, completing the event with a time of 19.28.

For the Lady Cats, Ardyn Weaver won the 800 and 1,600-meter runs, finishing with respective times of 2:41.99 and 5:50.17. Rachel Bennett placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 1:10.90 and Marisa Boland placed fifth in the triple jump, finishing with a length of 22′.

Dinah Bragg placed third in the discus throw, recording a toss of 57′ 9″. She also claimed fourth in the shot put, recording a length of 23′ 10″.

The Lady Cats also claimed victory in the 4×400 relay, as the team of Rachel Bennett, Marisa Boland, Marlee Chadwick and Weaver completed the event with a time of 4:59.35.

Vallery Wofford finished fourth in the triple jump, recording a leap of 23′ 8″, while Jocelyn Birko finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, completing the course with a time of 20.43.

Clear Creek will take a few weeks to prepare for the 2016 Middle School state meet, which will take place in Lilburn April 22-23.
