Sgt. Charles William “Trey” Huff, III age 30 of Ellijay, GA passed on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017.
Trey was born March 10th, 1986 in Knoxville, TN. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 2004, and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Huff served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and was deployed on the maiden voyage of the USS New York. Trey was a Purple Heart recipient.
He is survived by his parents, Charles W. “Billy”, Jr. and Shela Huff of Ellijay, GA; sister and brother-in-law, McKenzie and Chris Duncan of Jasper, GA; niece, Ella Ann Duncan, spouse, Kalah Gill; grandmother, Helen Ottinger Huff of Parrottsville, TN; aunts and uncles, Mildred Ann Huff of Hilo, Hawaii, Rita Huff Hayward of Nashville, TN, William G. and Anita Livingston of Pigeon Forge, TN and Donnie and Carol Livingston of Booneville, MS; several cousins, favorite bulldog, Gunner.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 from the Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Smedley officiating. Graveside interment will follow at 2pm on Friday, January 20th, 2017 in the Union Cemetery of Newport in Newport, TN with military graveside rites performed by the United States Marine Corps.
Family will receive friends from 4pm until 9pm on Wednesday, January 18th, 2017 at the Logan Funeral Home.
