Mrs. Lois Whitaker Waddell, age 84, of Ellijay, Georgia died Thursday April 20, 2017.

Mrs. Waddell was born May 25, 1932 in Gilmer County to the late Cecil J. and Ovaline Norton Whitaker. Prior to retirement she worked as a real-estate agent and bookkeeper in Ellijay.

She is preceded in death by husbands, Theron W. Teague and Kimsey L. Waddell; brothers, Mack Whitaker, Ben Whitaker, and Hayden Whitaker; sisters, Gladys Morris and Betty Sue Painter; and great-grandson son Mitchel David McArthur.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Juliet Teague, Orange Park, Florida; daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Jerry McArthur, Dalton, Georgia; sisters, Charlotte Dickey and Hilda Bailey both of Ellijay, Brenda Downs of Snellville, Georgia; and step daughters Connie McClure and Kimberly Weaver both of Ellijay. Lois’ grandchildren are Wade McArthur, Dalton, Georgia, David McArthur, Hillsville, Virginia and Justin Hensley and Cody Hensley, Ellijay, Georgia.  She had eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 22, 2017at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Stover officiating. Interment will be in the Mr. Vernon Baptist Church cemetery.  Pallbearers are Wade McArthur, David McArthur, Jerry Downs, Hassel Chastain, Tony Whitaker, David Teague, Justin Hensley, and Cody Hensley.

The family will receive friends on Friday April 21, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family request no food be brought to the funeral home.
