Mr. Homer “Jack” H. Jackson, Jr. age 69 of Lawrenceville, GA, formerly of Ellijay, GA passed on Thursday morning, September 21st, 2017 at the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, GA.

Mr. Jackson was born December 18th, 1947 in Ellijay, GA, graduated from Gilmer High School, Class of 1965, and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy.  Jack was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  He was a cardiothoracic clinical engineer at Emory University Hospital for 38 years. He was a co-founder & President of the Atlanta Biomedical Engineering Group and started the biomedical departments at Emory University Hospital and Egleston Children’s Hospital. Jack was part of the heart team that was loaned from Emory University Hospital to Piedmont Hospital to start their heart program.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father & mother, Homer H. Jackson, Sr. & Ruby Tankersley Jackson, his daughter Angela Suzanne Jackson and sister Jane Madden. His survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Buffington Jackson of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Lea-Anne Jackson & Tom Dempsey of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Ava Jackson Dempsey and Truett Jackson Dempsey; sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne & George Adkisson of Fayetteville, GA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Johnny Withrow of Ellijay, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Stallings officiating. A military graveside service will immediately follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites performed by the North GA Honor Guard. Graveside interment will follow in the East Ellijay Baptist Church Cemetery with Bill McDonald, Danny Reese, Mickey Call, David Westmoreland, Robert Westmoreland, Leon Parks, Marty Teem, Ron Cagle, Benny Tankersley and Ernie Stover serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Ellington and the members of the 1964 Gilmer High School football team.

Family will receive friends from 4pm until 9pm on Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at the Logan Funeral Home.
