On Wednesday the Bobcats traveled to Northwest Whitfield for a region game originally scheduled on Thursday. The predicted inclement weather forced the two teams to move the game up one day.
The Cats struggled early and couldn’t fight back from a early deficit to the Bruins. In another tough region loss, the Bobcats squeezed out 5 hits on the day but wasn’t able to plate any runners in the 4-0 loss. On the defensive side, the Cats played very good only committing one error with two wild pitches on the day. The Bruins would plate one of their four runs on the wild pitch from Evan Frady in the first inning.
Of the Cats five hits, McKinley Chadwick led the way going 3-4 at the plate with one strikeout. Will Barnes and Brooks Rosser added a hit each for Gilmer. The Bruins pitchers combined for eleven strikeouts and one walk in keeping the Bobcats off the base pads for most of the game.
With the Cats dropping the first two games of a three game region series, the Bruins will come to Gilmer on Friday looking to sweep the Bobcats. Coach Thurman and his Bobcats will be ready to fire up the bats and prevent the sweep. Game time is at 5:55 pm at Bobcat Field.
