Gilmer High School held their annual banquet to recognize the hard work and dedication to Bobcats Tennis both off and on the courts. Both Boys(9-4 overall, 5-1 region)and Girls(9-4 overall, 5-1 region) Teams stepped up this year and finished runner up in the region. In doing this, the boys and girls teams were honored to host the first round of the GHSA State Tournament.
The following awards were given for the 2018 season:
Lady Cats …Most Valuable Player-Lauren Cole, Lady Cat Award-Katie Sheahan, Most Improved Player-Josie Reece, Best Overall Record-Hope Colewell(11-2), Bulls Eye Award- Beth Burnette(1st year Letter), Short Notice Award- Josie Reece(2nd year Letter), No Love Award-Hope Colewell(1st year Letter), Team MOM Award-Sarah Sheahan(2nd ear Letter), Most Likely to go 3 sets Award- Katie Sheahan(4 years with Gilmer Tennis), No Mercy Award- Lauren Cole(3rd year Lady Cat) and finally for the Lady Cats the Academic Award(highest GPA)-Katie Marrick.
Bobcats…Most Valuable Player- Carter Hice, Bobcat Award- Tripp Pierce, Most Improved Player- Kaden Reece, Best Overall Record- Tripp Pierce(13-0), Determination Award-Kaden Reece (1st year Letter), Up For Anything Award- Corbin Singleton(2nd year Letter), Rookie Award-Rylan Cochran(1st year Letter), Strategic Player Award- Luke Wimpy(2nd year Letter), Hardest Worker Award- Mason Hadden(1st year Letter), Most Intense Player Award- Brett Becker(1st year Letter), Outstanding Serve Award-Carter Hice(3rd year Bobcat) and finally on the boys side the Academic Award(highest GPA)-Tripp Pierce.
