Gilmer Softball Region Tournament Rundown

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats softball team is currently competing in the Region tournament. In recent correspondence with head coach, Eric Tedders, FYN was able to procure the results. The Lady “Cats” defeated Ridgeland 4-3 in eight innings, after coming back to tie the game in the 7th. Sklyer Banks came off the bench and went two for two with a game tying triple and a game winning hit in the bottom of the eighth.

Gilmer fell to Allatoona 2-4.

“We left 13 runners on base. Ten of those were in scoring position.”

Amberly Newton was two for two and had two walks. Mel Nicholson was two for two with a double and a home run.

In game three the Lady “Cats” emerged victorious 9-1, scoring eight runs in the fifth inning. Amberly Newton was two for three; Mel Nicholson was two for three with two RBI’s; and Ansley Mulkey was two for three with three RBI’s.

In game four, Gilmer defeated Lafayette 3-1. Anlsey Mulkey was two for three with a single and a triple. Taylor Powell was two for four with a single and a triple and an RBI.

Coach Tedders also had praise for his pitcher Rachel Crump,

“Rachel Crump has pitched all of the innings and the defense has (been) really solid behind her.”
