Team FYN Sports

The Clear Creek Bobcats fell in Fannin to the Fannin County Middle School Rebels, 18-6. The Bobcats led for most of the game; however a furious Fannin fourth quarter rally, saw the Rebels hosting the championship trophy.

Clear Creek drew Fannin’s blood first, scoring with a 48 yard pass from Thaddeus Bowers to Michael Pruett on the first drive of the game. The two point conversion was unsuccessful. With 5:29 left in the first quarter, the Bobcats led 6-0.

The Rebels replied with a drive down to the Clear Creek half inch line, featuring some fine Fannin Rebel running from Jack Roper, Bradley Fields, and Jerod Petty. The Bobcat’s defense held tight on the goal line, forcing a Fannin turn over on downs, just inside the Clear Creek one yard line.

On the ensuing Clear Creek possession, Fannin forced a three and out. The Bobcats sacked the punt team, taking a safety instead of punting out of the end zone, to make the score 6-2 with 5:34 left in the half. Neither team scored again to close the half with the same score.

The defenses ruled throughout the day, especially in the third, as neither team was able to procure a plethora of first downs. The Bobcats held the lead until just under seven minutes in the fourth, when Fannin’s Jack Roper took the lead with a rushing touchdown and two point conversion. The Rebels led 10-6, and would not look back.

On the ensuing possession, Bobcat Bowers, was sacked on third and long. Bowers bounced the ball in disgust and was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

On fourth and long, Clear Creek clearly snapped the ball over the punter’s head, and out of the end zone, increasing the lead by two in Fannin’s favor, and forcing a free kick that the Rebels returned, as Roper raced 55 yards to the end zone. The score sealed the Rebels’ victory.
