Coroner Budget Hearing

At the November 3rd Budget Hearing, the Coroner Office submitted its budget request for next year. This year, the coroner’s budgeted expenditures are $42,763. The Coroner’s Office requested budget expenditure for next year is $44,402, an increase of $1,639.

During the hearing Post Two Commissioner Danny Hall told County Coroner Jerry Hensley that he had to cut out health insurance because the county can not afford it. “The difference between other positions and yours (the coroner’s) is that you can go out to a scene and be exposed to (certain) dangers,” Post One Commissioner Will Beattie argued. Hall retorted that such a scenario is no different than the dangers faced by fire fighters.
