The Ellijay Elementary Fourth Grade Class delighted the near-capacity crowd at the school’s auditorium on March 24 with their performance of “Beauty and the Beast Jr”. The audience cheered as the children danced and sang to the songs from the 18th century classic French fairy tale made famous by Walt Disney Pictures after the 1991 release of the animated Beauty and the Beast. For the $5 admission price, attendees were entered into a raffle prize drawing and everyone received an “enchanted rose.” Immediately following the performance, raffle prize winner’s names were drawn. Prizes included: Dinner for four to Captain D’s; a prize pack with t-shirts and cds from 94.9 The Bull; a $50 gift card to California Dreaming; a $25 gift card to Cheescake Factory; and a one day pass to Walt Disney World.

After the curtain call, Director Ben Sexton thanked everyone for their participation and their cooperation in making the production possible. Afterward, EES PTO President Miranda Howell presented a bouquet of flowers to Mr. Sexton’s wife on stage.

The fourth grade class helped with fund raising for the production, as well as set design and construction. The production was presented by Target and sponsored by Amicalola EMC’s Bright Ideas, Ellijay Elementary PTO, Nissan North America, and The Sceptre Group.
