The Gilmer High School wrestling team held its annual banquet. The team was honored for winning the State Duals title and finishing as the runner up in the State Traditional tournament.After a hearty meal and the participation certificates were doled out, the senior awards and Caption awards were presented. Sam Rogers, Ben DeLoach, Justin Karr, and Joey Ray were named Captains.

Johnie Flakes, whose Puff Daddyesque all white suit was clearly the show stopper of the night, won the Take Down award, with 143 total takedowns. Jared Sweat was presented with the Most Improved Wrestler Award.

Jamie Lopez won the Top Freshman Award, with 163 team points, and a 29-9 individual record. The Top Sophomore Award went to Cameron Perry, the lone state champion on this year’s Bobcats squad, who accumulated a whopping 366 ½ team points, and posted a 57-6 record.

The top Junior Award went to JP Pritchett, who posted a 38-15 record and had 210 total team points. The Top Senior Award was presented to Ray, who accrued 358 team points and posted a 68-7 record.

Jacob Harrison was named Break Out Wrestler, after posting 43 wins and 239 team points. The aforementioned state champion, Perry, was the Most Outstanding wrestler. The MVP and Noah Harris Awards went to Ray.

The place winners were honored as well; Brady McCollum (6th), Ben DeLoach (5th), Daniel Bautista (3rd), Justin Karr (3rd), Johnie Flakes (2nd), Joey Ray (2nd), and Cameron Perry (1st).
