Luke 4:1,2 “And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted of the devil.” Father, we have our wilderness times like Jesus did and this is when the tempter comes on strong. When we feel all alone and vulnerable help us to draw on the truth of scripture as Jesus did to send Satan on his way.

May this person who pauses for a moment of meditation find courage to go through the wilderness experience. Life gets difficult and we cannot clearly see the future. The evil one taps us on the shoulder and says, “Follow me and I will show you the joys of life.” We know in our hearts that it is all a lie for we see all around us the carnage of those who listened to him.

As the old hymn says, “Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the one I love.” We ask for help to tune our hearts to sing Your grace and power. Our prayer is made in the name of Him who was Victor and makes us more than conquerors.”

Amen.
