Featured Stories, Festivals

The 2012 Georgia Apple Festival in Ellijay was enjoyed by many from both near and far. The second weekend brought beautiful weather for the parade in downtown Ellijay. In addition, the festival provided a second weekend of many craft and food vendors at the Lion’s Club Fairgrounds as well as in downtown Ellijay. Below is a quote from Scott Sharp, Georgia Apple Festival Manager regarding the 2012 Georgia Apple Festival.

“We estimated right over 59k for both weekends which includes children 10- and under that are free admission. This number also includes all vendors, volunteers, and is not strictly just paid through the gate type admissions.

The Apple Festival is a Non-Profit organization and any proceeds that remain once all the expenses are met are equally divided between the Ellijay Lions Club and the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce so the proceeds do in fact remain within our community and support many charitable organizations and provide much needed scholarships for students and assist the chamber to be able to continue to operate in order to promote Gilmer county for tourism and economic development all year long.”
