Featured Stories, News

The three new board of education members were sworn in this afternoon by Probate Judge Anita Mullins in Courtroom D at the Gilmer County Courthouse. Mullins delivered two oaths to each board member, the board of education oath of office and the loyalty oath. In a symbol of unity, the new members, James Parmer, James Waters, and Angela Thomas, were sworn in at the same time. Although admitting that serving on the board will be a challenge, Mr. Parmer said he is looking forward to the task, while Mr. Waters mentioned opening the meetings up more to the public. For her part, Mrs. Thomas said that she too was looking forward to the opportunity to serve on the board.

“We hope to bring everybody together again,”

she said,

“And most definitely, putting the kids first.”

The new members begin their term next month.
