On Aug 1st at 6:30am Fetch was on site with the new operator at Whitepath Golf Course . Today Gilmer County officially resumes operation of one of the County’s largest assets. Mr. James (SLUGGER) Strawbridge is taking over the operations at Whitepath Golf Course, tentatively on behalf of Gilmer County. It appeared all the keys had been left by the previous operator, Marc Reece.

A few volunteers showed up and introduced themselves to Slugger and starting bringing up a few carts for the Thursday morning scramble. According to one of the gentlemen speaking with Slugger there wasn’t any fuel. He said the previous night there had been 200 gallons but this morning it was empty.

Slugger told us that he had been told of a conversation the County had with Reece regarding the fuel in which the County had requested Reece to fill the carts and let them know the remaining amount of fuel and the County would pay for it. Apparently this didn’t happen.

JC Sanford was scheduled to meet with Slugger but as of 7:15am no County Commissioners were there. The County and Slugger will be working today to ensure the course can operate smoothly. As with any transition there will be things to work out but FetchYourNews would like to wish all the best to Slugger in his new endeavor.
