The Gilmer Bobcats’ football squad had one of its most successful seasons in school history, and that did not go unnoticed by the rest of 7-AAAA, who selected a grand total of total members of Gilmer High School, including head coach Wesley Tanksersley.
Four of the eleven members of the first-team offense were Gilmer Bobcats: running back Johnie Flakes, fullback Tyler Bertolini, offensive lineman Jake Ingram, and kicker Manny Lopez.

Linebacker Austin Cole’s play warranted a spot on the first team All-Region, giving the senior an excellent exclamation mark to cap off his high school career. Offensive lineman Bailey Lambert and defensive lineman Austin Davis represented Gilmer on the second team.

Making the team as honorable mentions for Gilmer were offensive lineman Josh Aaron and defensive back Corey Waters.

The Bobcats’ success also led to head coach Wesley Tankersley receiving the region’s Coach of the Year award.
