Bobcats Place Second at Lake Norman Duals

The Gilmer High School Bobcats wrestling team traveled to Charlotte North Carolina to face Independence and Hough High Schools before defending its title at the Lake Norman Duals. The Bobcats posted wins over Independence and Hough, the Bobcats placed second at Lake Norman, after a 39-24 loss in the finals to the Newton Conover Red Devils.The Bobcats beat Independence 65-14, before beating Hough 51-21, in “The Queen City”.

The next day saw the Bobcats take part in the Lake Norman Duals, where the Bobcats faced some of the nation’s toughest competition.

In the first round the Bobcats faced the 2A runner up, Croatan, before besting Union Pines 47-27. Next the Bobcats faced Independence, the West Virginia state runner up, winning 46-16.

After defeating, Tennessee state champions, Cleveland (34-33), the “Cats” faced Newton-Conover the defending North Carolina 2A champions, falling 39-24.

The Bobcats next host a Quad Meet with Northwest Whitfield, North Hall and Union County, Tuesday December 10th starting at 5:00.
