Bobcats Beast at Burnt Mountain Classic: “Cats” Clobber with 284.5 Points in Pickens
Featured Stories, Team FYN Sports January 28, 2014 , by LT MeltonThe Gimer High School Bobcats wrestling team caught fire at the Burnt Mountain Classic, held at the home of the Dragons of Pickens High School. Gilmer took first place with 284.5 points, North Forsyth finished second with 187.5. The “Cats” clobbered the competition with 13, out of a possible 14 weight classes, wrestlers placing, and nine of them finishing first. Out of the 13 place winners, 12 won the last match of the day. The Bobcats’ junior varsity wrestlers participated in the King of the Hill Tournament, finishing second, in what is known as he “Unofficial JV State Championship.”
Cameron Perry, who finished at 132, was named “Most Outstanding Wrestler” for the lightweight wrestlers. Other first place finishers were: Marcelino Lopez (113); Jacob Harrison (120); Daniel Bautista (126); Mel “The Fireman” Mosley (138); Johnie Flakes (152); Matthew Waddell (160); Tyler Bertolini; and Levi Seabolt.
Jamie Lopez and Zack Allen finished third at 145 and 195 respectively. Nick Windsor took fourth at 182 and Dan Puac placed fifth at 106.
The Bobcats are getting ready for the Area 8-AAAA Traditional Tournament held at Cass High School January 31st through February 1st.
