While the Lady “Cats” fell, 9-0, the “Cats” Clipped the Colonels after Manny Lopez’s goal broke a 4-4 tie with just over four minutes left in the game, giving Gilmer a 5-4 victory. The Lady “Cats” could not mount any offense, and the Colonels went to war on the Gilmer defense, scoring three goals in the first half, the first a mere 1:28 into the game.

The second half was worse for “Cats” fans than the first, as the Lady Colonels doubled the goals scored, with six, to take a 9-0 victory and keep the Lady “Cats” without a win in 2014.

The Bobcat boys battled early and often. The Colonels drew first blood, with a score at the 28:24 mark; however, Eric Chavez and Alex Hernandez each answered with goals of his own, giving Gilmer a 2-1 lead that lasted through the first half.

The game continued to go back and forth throughout the second half with Hernandez breaking a 3-3 tie with a goal scored at the 30 minute mark.

19 minutes later, the Colonels tied the game again at 4-4. Lopez’s aforementioned game winner came with little time left and the Gilmer defense held on for the 5-4 win.

The “Cats” next face the “Cats” of Dalton on the road Friday March 21st at 5:30.
