Pritchett told us there was one female in the home who told the fire department there was an explosion. The woman was the only person inside the home and she was transported to the hospital with minor burns.
This was a major fire that spread to 1 1/2 to 2 acres of nearby woods. The fire fighters were able to contain the blaze with a water ditch. Chief Pritchett wanted to assure everyone the threat of the fire has passed at this time. However the home is a total loss. It is unclear at this time what caused the explosion until further investigation. Fannin County Fire Dept had 2 water trucks on the scene and they were refilling water trucks at a hydrant located at Mason Tractor.
The home was one of the properties managed by Mountain Laurel Cabin Rental and it appears the female transported to the hospital was there to clean the rental. FetchYourNews spoke with a representative of Mountain Laurel who told us they had no details at this time and was on the other line with the hospital to check on the well being of the woman injured in the fire.
