Mr. Ruel Alvin Cecil Defoor, age 72 of Ellijay, Georgia passed from this life on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at his residence.
He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Born March 9th, 1942 in Ellijay, GA. to his late parents Alvin Thomas Defoor and Meleanies Violet Colista Burgess Defoor. Ruel served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was was employed as Branch Manager with Heritage Propane.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday July 23rd at Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Beason, Rev. Jerry Banks and Rev. Johnny Beason officiating.Music and singing will be by the Clayton family. Military Rites will follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavillion performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Graveside Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with Terry Payne, Jamie Clayton, Corey Defoor, Tim Defoor, Wilburn Defoor, Charlie Defoor, James Defoor and Dustin Green serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Sanford, W.T. Evans, James McClure, Hayden Arnold,Grady Crooke and Lloyd Pritchett,
Survivors include wife Patsy Ann Defoor; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammie D & Terry Payne of Ellijay, GA., Tracie D. & Jamie Clayton of Ellijay, GA.; son & daughter-in-law Bobby & Tammy Defoor of Ellijay, GA.; grandchildren Jessic Payne Green, Isaac Defoor, Noah Defoor; brother & sister-in-law Earl & Shirley Defoor of Dalton, GA.; special friends Rebie Stover, Nina Burgess W.T and Margie Evans.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
