Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program is almost over! Make sure to drop by the library and turn in your reading log or game board. There is still time to pick up your Summer Reading packet which includes a coupon for a free ice cream! Gift certificates and prizes are awarded to those who complete the Summer Reading Program. Program is available for all ages.

Meet some of the creatures that live in the swamps, presented by Bill Haley of the Tennessee Aquarium. All ages are invited; children 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Friday, July 18 @ 2pm
The Civil Air Patrol will be at the library to share the world of robotics. Teens will also be able to make a mini robot. For teens grades 6-12.
Finding Your Native American Genealogy

Leslie Thomas, President of the GA Chapter of The Trail of Tears Assn., will help you begin your search for Native American ancestors.
Test Tube Terrariums

Join us as we make test tube terrariums. This program is free and for ages 6 and up; 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Tuesday, July 22 @ 2pm
Join us as we make a kaleidoscope. All materials will be provided. Registration is required. For ages 8 and up; 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project
Friday, July 25 @ 2pm
Stephen Ramsden with the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project will be at the Gilmer County Library to teach teens about our closest star. He will be set up all day and will stay afterwards for anyone who would like to safely view the sun with his solar equipment. Weather permitting.
The Bookshelf has received a donation of travel books for worldwide destinations as well as some beautiful collectible National Geographic books on various animals and ecosystems. Plan your next trip or do some armchair traveling to exotic locales.
Take a look at the “last chance” cart where our inventory of half-priced books is refreshed weekly. You can put your payment for these books in the donations box if the Bookshelf is closed.
Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays.
