Rose Goble, 84, of Ellijay, GA passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.She was born Rosa Emaline Watkins on June 3, 1930 to Posey and Pearl Watkins. June 6, 1947 she married William Robert (Pop) Goble, he died in 2011. They were members of New Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. Goble was a lifelong resident of Gilmer County. Her family was one of the early settlers in North Georgia, having arrived from South Carolina in the early 1800s. Besides raising her four sons, she enjoyed traveling, gardening and collecting unusual pottery, having personally brought home rare pieces from every state. She and Robert loved to travel and they always combined their trips to both a car show and a pottery museum. She was an avid student of history, especially England and American history and loved to share stories about her ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. She loved to read historical novels and was constantly surrounded by her favorite volumes.

She is survived by four sons; Allen (Marilyn), Jerry, Philip (Elaine), and Glen (Mary). Grandchildren; Al (Valerie), Jennifer (Casey), Steven (Jess), Stuart (Sandy), Shelly, Alex, Tabitha, and nine great grandchildren: Also survived by one brother Charlie (Liz).

Preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings; Virgil, Frances, Robert, Annie Odelle, Andrew and Henry.

Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. George Barnett and Rev. Edmund Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellijay, GA.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Logan Funeral Home.
