Edward John (Eddy) White, age 63, passed away after a battle with cancer on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the home of Ellen T. White in Cherry Log, GA. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Edward Joseph White and Edith Byrnes White. He was known and recognized for his work with Habitat for Humanity in the community. He served in the capacity of volunteer, Board member, Vice President, President, and Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Fannin and Gilmer Counties. In addition, he served on the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Georgia. He had a great love for people and for the community. He also loved his family and was loved by them. He earned a certificate in alcoholism counseling from the Institute of South Oaks in Amityville, NY, and retired from Verizon, moving from New York City to Fannin County in 1998.

Survivors include one son, Kevin Thomas White, of Valley Stream, NY; one daughter, Emma LiYing White of Fannin County; three sisters, Margueritte Shortt of Patterson, NY, Patrice Rebasti of Middletown, NJ, Virginia Almskog of West Sayville, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 27th, 2014, at Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay, with Pastor Dave Smedley officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service. Interment will follow later in the Cave Spring Cemetary in Cave Spring, GA.
