A motor vehicle accident occurred Tuesday December 2nd at Maddox Drive and Hwy 515 in Gilmer County. Pickens Sheriff’s Office Deputy Frank Gary Holloway was the driver who struck 18 year old pedestian Ronald Lamar Jackson, Jr. Deputy Holloway is not on administrative leave and is still on active duty. The above information was provided by Georgia State Patrol, Blue Ridge office, Trooper First Class Andrew Phillips.

On December 2, 2014 at approximately 7:00 pm, a Pickens County deputy sheriff was involved in a motor vehicle accident with a pedestrian in Gilmer County.

The incident occurred on Highway 515 and Maddox Drive in East Ellijay. The deputy was traveling northbound in his assigned patrol car when a pedestrian attempted to run across the roadway in front of oncoming traffic.

A preliminary review of the patrol car’s onboard video indicates the deputy was traveling under the posted speed limit and had the right of way at the time of the accident.

The pedestrian was airlifted to Kennestone Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition. The deputy was not injured.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.

According to authorities a Pickens County Deputy was traveling north on Hwy 515 at approximately 7pm when he struck a pedestrian. From preliminary reports the man was in the roadway at the time the accident occurred. Life Flight transported the man for medical treatment but according to reports from the scene he appeared to be alert at the time.
