PROMISES
Opinion January 27, 2015Letter to the editor submitted by Ed Huber:Conmen know that the best cons are when you keep the “Pigeons” happy. The greatest modern day Conman was Bernie Madoff…or was he? He promised huge returns on investments. Some of his better known victims include Larry King, Jane Fonda, Zsa Zsa Gabor and his own sister who he scammed out of 3 million just to name a scant few of the thousands. But, was Madoff the greatest of all? What is it they promise to so fool the masses? Using Repo 105 and other creative accounting methods Bernie was able to survive for many years before being caught. Where did he slip-up? What was Bernie missing to keep from getting caught? Was there anything else he could do? Are there others he could have learned from? Are there others better at the game? “Poor Bernie”! He spent years scamming people and as an old man worth billions he now spends his days making license plates for the state and his nights locked in a cage. It’s just not fair to a man so successful in life. Well, there were, and still are better at the game.
Vladimir Lenin promised “Bread in every kitchen”. Franklin Roosevelt “A chicken in every pot.” Obama goes a step further. He promises, “amnesty for all illegal aliens”, “free education for their children”, “free healthcare”, and a Social Security card with full benefits, for starters.
How do Lenin, Roosevelt, Obama and the majority of today’s politicians stack up to Bernie? Are these promises enough to keep the “Pigeons” happy?
On February 21, 1920 to initiate the Russian economic recovery Lenin established “free universal health care”, “free education systems”, promulgated the politico-civil rights of women and legalised homosexuality, being the first country in the modern age to do this. Any resistance to this, Lenin said: “we must precisely now smash the clergy most decisively and ruthlessly and put down all resistance with such brutality that they will not forget it for several decades.” He also said: “At this meeting pass a secret resolution of the congress that the removal of property of value, especially from the very richest lauras, monasteries, and churches, must be carried out with ruthless resolution, leaving nothing in doubt, and in the very shortest time. The greater the number of representatives of the reactionary clergy and the reactionary bourgeoisie that we succeed in shooting on this occasion, the better”. It’s estimated 8,000 priests and laymen being executed as a result of this letter.
During 1919 and 1920, out of a population of approximately 1.5 million, the Bolshevik regime killed or deported an estimated 300,000 to 500,000. And the crushing of the revolts in southern Russia resulted in tens of thousand of executions. Estimates for the total number of people killed in the Red Terror range from 50,000 to over a million.
Lenin never baked a loaf of bread and after his death he was embalmed and put on permanent display in Red Square. He kept the “Pigeons” happy. How did he do it?
That brings us to FDR. Unlike Obama’s “Change” FDR’s “Chicken in every pot” would come from his “New Deal”. I just paid my electric bill and $82.00 of the total was a TVA generation charge. That amounts to over 20% of the total bill. In 2013 TVA CEO Bill Johnson was paid 5.9 million and 2014 brought him 4.6 million more. That makes him the highest-paid federal employee in America. TVA Chairman Joe Ritch said Johnson, is still underpaid for his performance. As I struggle with my Social Security check to pay my bills I’m reminded that FDR created both programs as well as the UN. A majority of polls rank Roosevelt as the second or third greatest president, consistent with other surveys Roosevelt is the sixth most admired person from the 20th century by U.S. citizens, according to Gallup. Roosevelt was also widely beloved for his role in repealing Prohibition. How did he keep the “Pigeons” happy?
After the fall of the Berlin wall a cartoon appeared in a Russian newspaper picturing a fork in the road. One path was labeled “freedom”; the other path was labeled “free sausage”. As you might guess, the path to freedom had few takers; the path to “free sausage” was crowded with footprints. When given a choice, people will choose free sausage over freedom and individual liberty. Roosevelt knew voters would accept “political slavery” with a chicken in their pot over freedom and starvation. Chicken fills the stomach freedom does not. Could Bernie have taken some advise from this scoundrel?
How true was this cartoon? Every time I buy a loaf of bread I have a charge on my receipt “Sales Tax”. Without objection (not), I help fund the abortion mills of Planned Parent Hood and keep the “Pigeons” happy. I buy a pair of shoes and the same result.
Last but certainly not least comes Barack Hussein Obama. What does he promise? How does he keep the “Pigeons” happy? Illegal Aliens will now be called “Undocumented guests”. Looters in Ferguson, MO will be referred to as “Undocumented Shoppers” and Eric Holder will see that No mother should have to fear for her son’s life every time he robs a store.
So what should Bernie have promised to keep the “Pigeons” happy? What did these people have that Bernie was missing?
What if Bernie had control of the IRS? The EPA, or the Federal Reserve. How about the Department of Education? He could brain wash our children with Marxist propaganda and the next generation would keep him out of the “Pokey”. Any remaining opposition could be met with Civil Asset Forfeiture.
Is there any hope for America? Until we elect people who believe in the Constitution and send the current crop of bottom feeders packing the answer is a resounding no. We need people committed to getting rid of ALL the Departments and bureaucrats and start over with a fresh adherence to the Constitution.
