Lap-Sit Storytime – Bears

Lap-Sit story time is a fun and personalized way to encourage early literacy by including books, songs, rhymes, and physical activity for ages 1 to 3 years with a participating adult.
Family Storytime – Patriotic Presidents
Saturday, February 7 @ 10:30 AM
Some of our most famous patriots were also presidents and Mrs. Judy will retell their stories. Family story times are designed for families with children of all ages. These programs often feature stories, music, rhymes and a free craft activity. Children 9 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Weekday Storytime – Candy Hearts

“I ♥ U” It is almost Valentine’s Day so come and listen to Mrs. Judy as she tells the story of the sweet Candy Hearts. Right after the story, we always have craft time. All ages are welcome. Children under 9 require a responsible adult.

Join us as we watch the movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory based on the book written by Roald Dahl and then we discuss the differences between the movie and the book – ages 12 years and up

Masters Gardeners – Beat the Winter Blues

The Master Gardeners of Gilmer County invite you to their first program of 2015. Different seed catalogs from companies around the country will be available for your perusal to assist in the selection and planning phase of your 2015 garden.

Adult Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting
Wednesday, February 11 @ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. You don’t have to be at every class. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

Genealogy Society Program – Expand Your Research

Karen Titus, President of the Gilmer County Genealogical Society, will present on how to expand your research beyond the confines of your neighborhood.

The Monthly Movie – Ms. Potter
Thursday, February 12 @ 5:30 PM
Enjoy the story of Beatrix Potter, the author of the beloved and best-selling children’s book, “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”, and her struggle for love, happiness and success. Light refreshments will be served.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

It may be cold outside, but this is the perfect time to start planning your spring and summer garden. The Bookshelf has a beautiful collection of gardening books this week, many dedicated to southern and Georgia gardening.
If you’re not already a Friend of the Library please join us next time you come into the Bookshelf. Memberships start at only $10.00 and contribute to buying new books (including E-books) for the library’s collection. You’ll enjoy the monthly newsletter, special events, and will be the first to know about the collections we put out each week.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30 AM-5:00 PM on weekdays and from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM on Saturdays.
