ALERT: Superintendent Jason Kouns to Resign

Community, Featured Stories, News

This morning FYN learned by an email sent to faculty, staff, administration and board members that Gilmer County Superintendent of Schools Jason Kouns will be turning in his letter of resignation in the coming days.Below is the email:

All,

First, let me begin by saying how truly humbled I am, that so many Faculty/Staff/Friends, took time out of their busy schedules last night to attend the Board of Education meeting. As I watched the numbers grow, I was so encouraged, and visually rejuvenated, to see the representation for the students and system at large. That type of attendance should be the expectation, rather than the exception, as this educational effort, is so valuable and worth the time/energy. Only through continued communication and collaboration can the Gilmer County Charter School System excel to its full potential.

With that being noted, after a great deal of discussion last night, the Board of Education and I came to a collective agreement, and thus I will be submitting my formal letter resignation as Superintendent of the GCCSS, to take effect, at the end of my current contract, June 2015.

I have so valued my time in Gilmer County, and I will treasure the relationships/friendships that I have formed. This system is doing so many wonderful things, and that success is directly related to one factor, the Faculty and Staff that work tirelessly for this community and these children. Please don’t ever question your impact. It is what sustains.

I wish each of you the best in the future, and as always…Bobcat Proud!

Kouns resignation will come into effect at the end of his contract in June of this year, 2015.

Stay tuned for more to come on the story.
