Lap-Sit Storytime – Count With Me

Lap-Sit story time is a fun and personalized way to encourage early literacy by including books, songs, rhymes, and physical activity for ages 1 to 3 years with a participating adult.

Lego Club
Saturday, March 14 @ 2:00 PM
Building with Legos is just plain fun, and we offer a different theme each month. Children can work alone or in teams to make their special creations which will be displayed in the library until next month’s meeting. All ages, under 9 years of age with an adult please

My First Book Club

Children grades 2nd – 5th and their parents are invited to join us once a month for a beginning level book club – check with the library for more information

Weekday Storytime – Rainbow Wishes

Spring is coming and so are the rainbows. Come and listen to Mrs. Judy as she tells the story of the folks Gone Fishing. Right after the story, we always have craft time. All ages are welcome. Children under 9 require a responsible adult.

Puppet Show – The Leprechaun’s Gold

Lawton Baggs will speak about a movie made in the 1950’s called “A Day in Ellijay, Georgia, 1953” that features the downtown businesses, buildings and autos of that time period. Come join us for trip back in time.

Monthly Movie

A 2007 historical biopic stars Anne Hathaway as the title character. The British film is partly based on the 2003 book, Becoming Jane Austen. James McAvoy costars in the movie as Jane Austen’s love and regret, Thomas Langlois Lefroy.

Basic Computer Skills Lab

Adult Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting
Wednesday, March 18 @ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

Prepare for spring break and pick up a few mysteries from our Last Chance shelf outside the Bookshelf. Favorite authors Sue Grafton, Patricia Cornwell, Iris Johansen, and Catherine Coulter will all be at half price this week, an excellent opportunity to pick up any titles you haven’t read.

Don’t forget to pick up a stash of magazines for road trips, a true bargain at $.25 each. Magazines are displayed on the rack outside the Bookshelf and in the non-fiction “back room” as well.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30 AM-5:00 PM on weekdays and from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM on Saturdays.
