CHECK IT OUT! – May 7, 2015, Heath Lee, Gilmer County Library Branch Manager.The 2015 Summer Reading Program begins on 5/22/15. Be sure to bring your children to the Gilmer County Library to sign up. Lego Club
Saturday, May 9 @ 2:00 PM
The Lego Club has a different theme each month. Children can work alone or in teams to make their special creation, which will be displayed in the library until next month’s meeting. All ages, under 9 years of age with an adult please

My First Book Club

Children grades 2nd – 5th and their parents are invited to join us once a month for a beginning level book club – Call the library for more information on this month’s book selection

Teen Monday – Teen Book Club
Monday, May 11 @ 5:00 PM
Teen programs will now be on Mondays at 5PM. Join us as we watch Inkheart which is based on the book by Cornelia Funke. Then discuss the differences between the movie and the book – ages 12 years and up

Master Gardeners – More Than Honey: Bees in the Garden
Thursday, May 7 @ 6:00 PM
The Master Gardeners of Gilmer County will discuss the importance of allowing those pesky pollinators access into your garden. Light refreshments will be served.

Word 101
Tuesday, May 12 @ 10:00 AM
Learn the basics of Microsoft Word. We will introduce you to creating documents, adding content, saving the file and using templates. Registration and an active library card are required.

Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting
Wednesday, May 13 @ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

You can sew up a storm with help from the like-new Singer Sewing Reference Books featured in the Bookshelf this week. These clearly illustrated books cover everything from fit to finish, a wonderful resource for any sewing room and a perfect Mothers’ Day gift.
Don’t forget to pick up a stash of magazines for road trips, a true bargain at $.25 each. Magazines are displayed on the rack outside the Bookshelf and in the non-fiction “back room” as well.
Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays
