Former Pickens Jailer Behind Bars in Gilmer

William Cody Fowler recently employed with Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is in Gilmer’s jail, and he’s not lost.Fowler was recently hired by Pickens County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer. He had just completed the full processing and 2 months on the job. Fyn spoke to Kris Stancil who told us that Fowler had even passed his lie detector test, which is part of the screening process for employment. Pickens County was notified by Gilmer County that they were going to arrest Mr. Fowler on charges stemming from events that had occurred in previous years. Since Mr. Fowler was still on a probationary status with the Pickens Sheriff’s Office he was terminated. Probationary period with Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is 6 months.

Fowler was arrested on charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, sodomy, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery on May 7th by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office.

Stancil said he wanted to clarify any rumors that have been going around about Fowler driving a patrol car explaining,

“That did not happen.” “During Fowler’s brief time of employment he was assigned and being trained as a jailer and at no time was issued or had access to use a patrol car.”
