Gilmer County citizens got to attend a special two-night rodeo this weekend held on Friday, September 21st and Saturday, September 22nd, by the Gilmer County Saddle Club and Ronnie Thompson Ford. [Read more »] 

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Ellijay presented a proposal of the operating budget for the calendar year 2013 at the regular scheduled meeting on September 17, 2012, at 6:00 pm at City Hall. The budget proposal is now available for review at City hall in the Mayor's office. A public hearing will be held to discuss the proposed budget on October 1, 2012 at 5:15 pm at City Hall. The adoption of the budget will then tentatively take place during the regular meeting of the City Council on October 22, 2012, at City Hall at 6:00 pm.

The Gilmer County Saddle club hosted its regular Open Horse Show yesterday, September 15th, while also hosting its very first Hunter Division competition. [Read more »] 

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Georgia’s net tax collections for the month of August totaled $1.32 billion for an increase of $24.5 million, or 1.9 percent, compared to August 2011. Gross tax revenue deposits totaled $3.56 billion — an increase of $43 million, or 1.2 percent, compared to August of the previous fiscal year. Finally, year-to-date net collections totaled $2.64 billion — an increase of $115.5 million, or 4.6 percent.
