The Gilmer High School Bobcats boys basketball team held its annual end of the year banquet honoring superlatives and graduating seniors. The banquet began with the food being served first before the awards were doled out.

First and foremost I must say, those who did not enjoy “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” are wrong, just plain wrong. The first live action G.I. Joe movie was awesome; it’s actually my all time favorite action movie, well it was until "The Avengers" came out. It truly follows the original cartoon and is full of action and just general awesomeness so please, STOP HATING.

The Gilmer High School Bobcats soccer teams hosted the Cedartown Bulldogs on “Senior Night.” Both the girls and boys visiting teams posted wins, with the girls winning with a one nil shut out, and the boys posting a 3-2 victory. In between games graduating seniors and their parents were acknowledged.

The Gilmer High School Bobcats track teams traveled to Dalton for the Ronnie McClurg Rotary Invitational. The Lady "Cats" finished 14th with nine points while the Bobcats boys placed 11th with 14 points. Brittany Lowman led the ladies with a fourth place finish in the high jump. Ian Ray led the Bobcats with third and fifth place finishes in the 110 and 300 Meter Hurdles respectively.

The Gilmer High School Bobcats hosted the Pickens High School Dragons in alumnifootballusa.com’s Alumni football game. The Pickens Alums picked up the 20-13 win in the first of what is set to become an annual fundraising event for both communities.
