The Gilmer youth baseball camp will take place June 27-29. The camp is for those between the ages of 5-14. The cost is $50 dollars per child; half price for siblings. Breakfast and lunch included. The camp will be held on the Gilmer High School baseball field from 8am-12pm.
Nerd night was not missed last week with the opening of “Battleship.” There was a meeting and the "nerdcensus" was that “Battleship” wasn’t worth the money, especially since most of us have seen “The Avengers” at least twice. However, Nerd Night recommenced with Men in Black 3, despite the normal nerd headquarters being busy with a two backed beast battle of Shakespearean proportions.

With a record of six wins and one loss, the Gilmer Recreation 10 and under fast pitch softball team won the league championship, winning the championship game by 10 runs, 15-5. The Lady “Cats” were led by Madia and Less Bragg, and Michael Flowers.
The Gilmer pool will open for the year Saturday May, 26th. The cost is $3.00 per person, or $75.00 for a season passes. For family discounts, please see pool management or the a member of the Gilmer County Parks and Recreation department, located next to the pool. Swim lessons will begin June 4th and will take place Monday-Thursday. Morning lessons will be between 11am-11:45am. Evening lessons will be 6pm-6:45pm. Lessons are $50.00 per week (includes all four days). Pool party costs are: $150.00 for a party with 50 or less people; or $200.00 for party with more than 50 people.
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats Volleyball team will host its annual youth summer camp. The camp will take place June 18-20 in the GHS gym from 9am-12pm. The camp cost is $45.00 before June 18th and $50.00 on the 18th. The camp is open to those entering grades 5-12. The Lady "Cats" would like to ask all campers to address prepared for volleyball related activities, including appropriate footwear and knee pads if available.
