Here is some news for all the GHS friends that support the GHS wrestling team. The Bobcats won the team camp championship with a one point win over multiple time Missouri state champs, Neosho. We won a two point match over Edwardsville, out of Illinois and by 20 over Union County, of Kentucky (last year’s state runner up and the 2011 state champs). [Read more »]

The Gilmer Bobcats wrestling team is headed to the State Duals meet in Macon. The Bobcats secured a trip, by placing second in the 7-AAA Area tournament, held at Heritage High School in Ringgold. Gilmer rumbled by the Ramblers of Lafayette 44-19 to take second place. The host team, the Generals, placed first to win Heritage’s first ever Area Duals Championship, by beating the Bobcats in the finals 37-21. [Read more »]

The 1981 155lb. state champion from Gilmer High School, Sam Snider, now the head wrestling coach at his alma mater; won his 300th career win. The feat was accomplished in front of a raucous home crowd that greatly appreciative of their home town hero. The West Hall Spartans faced the juggernaut that is the Bobcats wrestling team, and despite battling with valor like King Leonidas, fell 62-14. [Read more »]

The Gilmer County High School Bobcats wrestling team opened their season at the West Hall Spartan Slam, where they dominated the day, pinning people like they were tailless donkeys. They won with scores of: 59-24 (Parkview); 65-18 (West Hall); 54-12 (Lumpkin County); 48-21 (White County); and 51-24 (Cartersville). [Read more »]
