For 24 years the Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats basketball team has heralded Herb Horton as its leader. The 2012-13’ season was his last, as Horton has decided to hang up the whistle and retire from coaching high school basketball. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball team traveled to Decatur to take on the Columbia Eagles, the three time defending state champions in a first round matchup of the state playoffs. Despite an early lead and three three’s from Wheeler Lancey the “Cats” got scratched from the playoffs 60-36. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats basketball teams both placed first in the annual ETC Tip-Off Tournament. The round robin style tournament features boys and girls’ basketball games played between Copper Basin, Fannin County, Pickens, and Gilmer High Schools. The Gilmer High School Annual Alumni basketball game will take place Friday June 29th, with the Lady Bobcats game beginning at 6pm and the boys' game following.

The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball team will be holding its annual youth camp for boys aged 6-14. The camp dates are June 25-28, from 8:30am-12pm. The camp cost is $55.00 per camper if registered before June 18th, $60.00 after June 18th.

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats basketball teams hosted the Lady Buccaneers and Buccaneers of Allatoona High School. The home teams went 0-2 as Allatoona’s ladies won 48-41, and the boys’ team won going away 68-29. [Read more »] 

The Lady Indians and Indians’ basketball teams of Lumpkin County came to Gilmer County to take on the Gilmer High School Lady “Cats” and Bobcats. “The Cage” claimed two victims, as the Lady Indians were pummeled 47-36, in a game not nearly as close as the final score indicated, and the Indians were scalped by 30 points, 80-50.
