The juggernaut that is Gilmer Bobcats wrestling continued in dual meets against Hayesville and Fannin County. Gilmer traveled to Fannin County High School, and stung the Yellow Jackets of Hayesville 82-0, and ran roughshod over the Rebels of Fannin 76-3. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball teams hosted the Lady Rebels and Rebels of Fannin County. Both teams emerged unscathed as the Lady Bobcats won 41-38 and the Bobcat boys won going away 74-39. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball team traveled to Coahulla Creek to take on the Colts. Both the Lady “Cats” and boys Bobcats were successful. The Lady Bobcats rode the Lady Colts to a 62-26 victory, and the Bobcat boys beat the Colts 64-50. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Bobcats wrestling team’s home opener was a Bobcat beat down of epic proportions. Gilmer gave the competition, or lack there of, no leeway. The Bobcats’ beat: SE Whitfield 61-13; Cartersville 70-9; and Sequoyah 67-9. [Read more »]

The Gilmer Bobcats football team posted its first winning season in a decade with a 7-3 record. Gilmer did not make the playoffs, unlike last year’s team that finished with a 5-5 record and did make the playoffs. The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team outlasted the Ramblers of LaFayette, with a 36-35 thrilling double overtime victory on the Bobcats’ home field. The game was decided when Connor Webber, scored two points on a fake field goal on Gilmer’s point after attempt. The game winning score came directly after, quarterback Marlen Hensley connected with Webber on a 25 yard touchdown pass on fourth and 20. The win gave Gilmer a 7-3 record, it’s first winning season in a decade. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team hosted, region rival, the Pickens High School Dragons. The 28-13 home team victory, in which the fans of both schools were invited to wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month in a “Pink Out,” became secondary when, following a great abundance of “chippiness” between the teams (left mostly unchecked throughout the contest by the referees) a fight broke out with 18 seconds left in the game on the Pickens sideline. The fight which lasted approximately six seconds; resulted in nine players being ejected, which entails the players sitting out of the next contest as well (Murphy/Gilmer and Allatoona/Pickens), and rampant rumors from hospitalization of a player to coaches getting arrested.
