“Man of Steel” is the latest theatrical creation in the Superman saga. It is a new version of the story directed by Zack Snyder, of “300!” fame, and produced by Christopher Nolan, director of “The Dark Knight” series. I must say I was blown away by “The Man of Steel.” [Read more »]

The Coosawattee River Resort, in Ellijay, hosted a youth swim meet featuring the host team, Torpedoes, the Gilmer Bobcats, and the Pickens Sea Dragons of Pickens of Jasper.
The meet consisted of 86 events, with children from as young as 6 years to old, to those who had reached the ripe old age of 18.

The Gilmer High School Bobcats wrestling team wrapped it's annual road trip to the Missouri Tigers Style Wrestling Camp. The Bobcats finished with 7-2 record in Duals with the two losses coming at the hands of Neosho and Jackson, each a state championship team from the host state. In the traditional tournament, held at on the last day of camp, Cameron Perry won the 132lbs weight class.

There’s a “new”coach in the neighborhood, she lives in Gilmer and it’s understood, she’s there just to take good care of the Lady “Cats,” like she’s one of the family. Kim Charles is in charge of the Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats basketball team. Charles, a long time assistant, and also the head softball coach, will replace Herb Horton, who retired earlier this year. [Read more »]

The Gilmer High School Bobcats senior class has had nine different athletes sign scholarships to continue their sporting careers at the collegiate level.
