The Gilmer High School Bobcats soccer teams hosted the region rival Pickens High School Dragons on snowy blistery evening. The Lady “Cats” scratched the “Nettes’” nets one time to many for the visitors, winning on “Sudden Death” penalty kicks 6-5. The Bobcats boys’ team was shut out two nil. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Wrestling Team took 11 wrestlers to the Sectional tournament held at Pickens High School this past weekend. Only the top eight place winners from each weight class can compete in the State Traditional Tournament. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats basketball teams both placed first in the annual ETC Tip-Off Tournament. The round robin style tournament features boys and girls’ basketball games played between Copper Basin, Fannin County, Pickens, and Gilmer High Schools. On an emotional tear filled night, the Gilmer High School Lady “Cats” volleyball team, led by seniors Morgan Penland, Kaella Johnston, Cheyenne Frady, and Tiana Longino were victorious on senior night against the Pickens Dragonettes. The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats softball team secured the first non-tournament win of the season at the hands, and home, of hated rival Pickens High School. The Lady “Cats” clawed out a 4-3 come from behind victory. Taylor Powell’s game winning RBI bunt in the top of the seventh inning scored Emily Cantrell, and the “Cats” claimed victory a half inning later. [Read more »] 

The Gilmer High School Bobcats girls and boys soccer teams swept the visiting Pickens Dragonettes and Dragons with the Lady “Cats” clawing out a 5-4 overtime shoot out victory, and the Bobcats’ boys came from behind, down two nil, to win 3-2. [Read more »]
