The Gilmer High School Bobcats basketball team traveled to Decatur to take on the Columbia Eagles, the three time defending state champions in a first round matchup of the state playoffs. The Gilmer Lady Cats and Bobcats got the job done on the first day of the Phoenix Classic at Sonoraville High School on Friday against North Paulding, as the Lady Cats annihilated the Lady Wolfpack by thirty-three points and the Bobcats used a big third quarter to outlast the Wolfpack. The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats and Bobcats basketball teams both placed first in the annual ETC Tip-Off Tournament. The round robin style tournament features boys and girls’ basketball games played between Copper Basin, Fannin County, Pickens, and Gilmer High Schools.
